Free radon test kits in North Carolina

North Carolina has run a large January giveaway before, handing out 8,000 free kits, and that supply went in the first two weeks. Right now the state program is not offering free kits. It points people to buying a test kit or hiring a certified radon professional instead. If the free route matters to you, the thing to do is watch for the announcement in late December, because the kits go quickly once they are live. If you would rather not wait, the state keeps a list of certified professionals, which is safer than picking someone at random.
