No statewide free kitCheck your municipal or county health department · otherwise buy one
New Jersey does not run a statewide giveaway. The state points residents to municipal and county health departments for free kits, and to hardware stores or certified radon businesses for paid ones. The local route is worth trying first, because asking costs nothing. New Jersey also certifies radon businesses, which matters if you decide to have someone test for you rather than doing it yourself. Buying from a certified business means the work follows a regulated process and the result comes from an approved lab. Start with your town or county health department and work outward from there.
