OpenFree kits for Florida homes, requested on a state form
Florida keeps this simple. The state health department sends a free radon test kit to anyone who fills in its request form, and there is no income test and no county restriction attached. The kit is for a home in Florida, not for testing a building is required to do under state law, and you have three months to send it back before the lab stops accepting it. Radon comes up out of soil and rock rather than from the weather, so it is worth testing even in parts of the state where people assume it is not an issue. The test itself is a few days of leaving a small device alone in the lowest room you actually use.
