Free radon test kits in Alaska

Alaska is between rounds right now. The state radon program is not mailing kits, but it says mailing starts again in December 2026, and you can register your interest before then so you are on the list. That timing works in your favor. Radon readings are most reliable when a house has been closed up for a while, which in Alaska covers most of the winter. If you would rather not wait, short term kits are sold online and in hardware stores. Either way, check the state page before you order, because the registration link is the only way onto the list.
